Essay writing..

On Saturday 19th March, Fulham Brass will be returning to Stevenage for our second year in the First Section at the London and Southern Counties Area Championships. The test piece is Essay by Edward Gregson and features 3  movements of  Dialogue, Soliloquy and Epigram. The piece is a chance for the band to showcase our improvement over the last few years and also some of our talented soloists around the band, with an especially big solo for our talented leader of the band, Clare Pitt (cornet). It is also the debut of our talented Solo Euphonium Matt Smith, who has moved across from the trombone section.
We’re also delighted to have introduced a few new additions to the band in recent months. Andy Sladen returns to the band after a 4 year break in the Midlands on front row of cornets, Adam Funnell is a PHD student in London who has taken over the 2nd Euphonium seat forming a new team with Matt Smith, and Alex Boyall joins on Eb bass. We are also extremely happy to have filled two percussion vacancies with Henry Bourne and Dan Parisi who are working hard at the back of the band room. There’s still room in the section for someone else to join this very friendly and talented section – contact us via the website if you’re interested.
All members of the band will be focusing over the next 10 days on Essay and we will be hoping to deliver a performance that we will all be happy with!
We with then looking towards an exciting summer season which includes a concert in Fulham on Sunday 8 May with guest soloist: Davur Magnussen (Royal Scottish National Orchestra) who is one of the finest trombonists in the world, and a trip to the Bugle Brass Band Contest in June.
