Regent Hall Lunchtime Concert Series will celebrate the centenary of Wilfred Heaton’s birth with an
event this coming Friday (23rd Novemeber). Fulham Brass will make its debut as part of this long-running series.
Conductor John Ward said: “We’re really excited to be performing this amazing music,
acknowledging such an important composer, and in such an iconic venue.”
Guest soloist for the event is Tom Nielsen, current leader of the National Youth Brass Band of Great
Britain and holder of the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award. He’ll be performing Heaton’s rarely heard
and demanding “Annie Laurie” Variations.
The full programme is:
The Golden Pen,
Variations-Celestial Prospect,
Martyn,
Variations for Cornet and Band “Annie Laurie”,
Le Tricot Rouge,
My Treasure and
Victory for Me.
John Ward: “There are some events to celebrate this anniversary, but we’re not aware of one taking
place in London so it’s a great opportunity for those based in or visiting London to hear some great
music, a great soloist and learn about Wilfred Heaton from his son-in-law, Bryan Stobart, who will be
compering the programme.”
Entry is free of charge and more information here.
